Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Arnold Schwarzenegger

We are from that generation that stood in lines for video salons and sought friendship with those “blessed” children whose parents had managed to acquire the so-desired and unattainable for 90% of the population “VCR” – just so we could be present at some evening ritual and manage to see a film different from the ones shown on the two television channels available at the time. It was a time when heroes were changing, and the new ones carried strange and unusually sounding names: Sylvester Stallone, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan and, of course, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The latter, among other things, was also a kind of embodiment of something else – how a poor young Austrian managed to become one of the most famous Hollywood actors, and all of this thanks to his willpower and constant self-improvement. Forgive us for the lyrical digression, but even now we continue to believe that Arnold is a worthy man who has achieved a great deal in his life, and he has done it all by himself. Among other things, he is also known for his passion for fine watches – he collects them and has partnered with one of the brands from the so-called Holy Trinity of haute horlogerie – Audemars Piguet. Several models were born as a result of this collaboration, but the one presented today is, in our opinion, one of the most deserving of attention – for several reasons. First, because it is the only model from this collaboration made of solid yellow gold. Second, because of its reasonable size – most of the other models from this collaboration have a 48 mm case, and you will agree that not everyone has Arnold’s proportions... And last but not least – the model was launched in a very limited series of only 400 pieces. Not all of them have survived the almost 20 years that have passed, and most of the remaining ones are tucked away in collections around the world. The fact that the solid caseback bears Arnold’s signature makes owning this watch even more valuable. As most of you probably know, in the early versions of their Offshore chronographs Audemars Piguet used the calibre 2226/2840, and in this case we are talking precisely about this movement. It is based on a Jaeger-LeCoultre movement with a chronograph module – operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, with 370 components, 54 jewels and more than 42 hours of power reserve. And in order to underline the noble origin of the movement, the automatic rotor is adorned with a segment made of 22-carat gold.
