Description
The presented specimen, with its introduction in 2020, greatly polarized not only the brand's admirers, but also watch enthusiasts in general. “Zenith’s Daytona” and “a shame for the century-old brand” were contrasted with “The better Rolex” and “The Foundation should worry” – these were just some of the comments in all analytical articles on the topic. One thing is certain, however – this model did not go unnoticed and consequently the manufacturer and its marketing team achieved their goal – the model became highly sought-after and, unlike most of the brand's other models, is practically not found below retail price! Regardless of this controversy, at least in my opinion, it will surely become a classic for several main reasons. First, because it carries the tradition of Zenith – this is undoubtedly a fact – classic clean lines, the unique movement, and the noble combination of several key Zenith colors – white, silver, and grey – make this watch a true ambassador of the renowned brand. Second, the name – inevitably, a watch from this brand with such a name, 'El Primero', automatically becomes desired by every collector and Zenith enthusiast. Third, the size – 41 mm is currently the most contemporary size for a sport-elegant watch – it is neither large, nor is it small. And last but not least – everything the brand did to make this watch comfortable for daily use – water resistance of 100 m, the comfortable strap, the new clasp – which is both easy to use and secure in performing its task of keeping the watch on your wrist.
Fixed elegant ceramic bezel (a first for Zenith), white dial with luminescent silver-toned hands and hour markers. Inner tachymetric sub-bezel with minute markers. The date window at '4:30 o'clock'. Classic chronograph – 60 seconds, 30 minutes and 12 hours. The hour markers and hands are rhodium-plated, faceted and have SuperLuminova SLN C1 inserts. The transparent case back of the watch, made of sapphire crystal, allows us to enjoy the operation of the movement, and it truly shows impressive attention to detail - rhodium plating, chamfered bridges, a blue column wheel, a "Cotes de Geneve" guilloché rotor, decorated with the skeletonized star from the Zenith logo.
The watch is suitable for both daily wear with sport-elegant attire and with a formal suit, and the water resistance of 100 m. provides the opportunity for bathing and swimming.
Beneath the aristocratic white dial lies the brand's famous in-house El Primero movement, in this specific case the El Primero 3600 – COSC certified with over 60 hours of power reserve, operating at 36,000 vibrations (or a 5 Hertz frequency).
