Description
The range was first introduced in 2015 and aims to offer a watch that, unlike the other representatives of the “Oyster” line, is neither distinctly sporty (like a Submariner) nor entirely elegant (like the Cellini models), but rather “casual,” as it can be worn with both jeans and a t-shirt, as well as with a formal shirt and trousers.
Indeed, the detail of this watch (as with all modern Rolex timepieces we have had the opportunity to handle) is impressive. Starting with the incredible dial (incidentally, the series offers four options to choose from – “dark rhodium,” “vivid blue,” and, of course, the most attractive in our opinion – the “red grape” presented today), which changes its color from pink, through red to purple at certain angles. The markers and hands seem to “hang” in the air in a state of weightlessness – they are elegant and crafted from white gold (which is standard for the brand's modern models). The markers at “3,” “6,” and “9” are enlarged and filled with a luminescent compound, which further emphasizes the elegance and enhances the overall perception of the model.
Moving on to the sapphire – the brand's highest-grade sapphire is used here, which allows for a reduction in the overall height of the watch compared to its predecessors. Of course, the case and the bezel deserve separate attention – an impressive combination of brushed highest-grade 904L steel with faceted polished edges and details in certain places (as is well known, Rolex pays special attention to the steel used and has its own foundries for its production).
And of course, the bracelet – as can be expected from Rolex, it is of an exceptionally high level. In this case, it is a classic Oyster bracelet with micro-adjustment capability. Its full size includes 5 links towards the “6 o’clock” side of the case (2 of which are removable) and 7 links towards the “12 o’clock” side (4 of which are removable), and the clasp is an Oysterclasp with a deeply engraved logo.
Of course, at the heart of the watch “beats” an in-house Rolex movement – in this case, it is the caliber 3132 – a new generation of one of the most successful, reliable, and well-proven automatic movements not only for the brand but in watchmaking as a whole, with a 48-hour power reserve, Paraflex shock absorber, and a Parachrom hairspring.
