Description
Undoubtedly, it is the Speedmaster name that has largely made Omega what the brand is over the last 50 years, and for this reason, it is this name that comes to mind for every watch enthusiast at the mention of Omega. Of course, the credit for this goes to the series of so-called "moon Speedmasters," but there are several others that deservedly hold a place of honor on the lists of the model's admirers. The theme of Space, and especially the Moon, is very valuable to Omega, because it is thanks to it that the brand is where it is today and has remained at the forefront of favorite brands for more than 60 years.
We can only say that the timepiece is truly impressive and, unfortunately, the photos cannot show all its splendor. Introduced in 2015, it is a true thoroughbred Speedmaster for many reasons – we will focus on just a few of them:
First, of course, it is a chronograph – in order to be a true Speedmaster. The tachymetric scale – which in this case is what Omega calls Liquidmetal, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the transparent case back – all these details emphasize its essence.
Second, of course, its irresistible and inimitable style – with the characteristic shape of the hands and the layout of the dial.
Third, the movement used – not in vain is caliber 9300 considered by specialists to be one of Omega's best in-house movements of the last 10 years. It deserves special attention. Under the name Calibre 9300 lies a high-quality automatic chronograph, operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations (3.5 Hz), with two barrels, 54 jewels, and 337 components, with Omega's co-axial escapement and an Si14 silicon balance wheel. The movement is COSC certified and offers a power reserve of over 60 hours. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the movement and provides better reliability, accuracy, and longevity. The column-wheel chronograph ensures a smooth start of the seconds hand and precise stopping and resetting.
And of course, the most interesting thing about this watch is the material used for the case – here we are talking about black ceramic. Omega first used this material in a Speedmaster precisely in 2015 in the Dark Side of the Moon model, and apparently, the result was so successful that other variations such as Blue and Grey subsequently followed.
The strap is very comfortable thanks to the clasp with easy-to-use push-buttons. It is made of high-quality nylon – clean and of very high quality, and the way it envelops the wrist once again emphasizes the high level of craftsmanship of the timepiece.
