Breitling and Bentley… Until one fine moment, these were two luxury brands – each a leader and an example to follow in its field, which independently of one another shared many common traditions.
The same passion for fine mechanisms.
The same combination of prestige and quality of execution.
The same heritage of excellence.
The same drive towards the future, symbolized by a winged “B” in the signature.
One day their paths crossed, and this meeting led to the emergence of a collection of exceptional chronographs, which continues to evolve and delight connoisseurs of both industries – watchmaking and automotive manufacturing. Dedicated to the world of cars, Breitling's “For Bentley” line unites the best of both worlds. Elegance and expertise. British chic and Swiss tradition. Incorporating a perfect combination of technology and aesthetics, it is designed to delight and impress both connoisseurs and all those who carry a love for rare and exclusive timepieces.
The presented watch is a wonderful example of this collaboration, which, in addition to the qualities inherent from the manufacturer, can also boast of being very well cared for over all these years, resulting in its unique condition today.
The series began its journey in 2008 and succeeds the very successful “Breitling for Bentley Motors” series – which was successfully produced from 2002 to 2010.
With its distinctive, specially finished bezel, the watch does not go unnoticed. Its “wavy” effect is achieved after a complex process and allows for interesting light reflections from different angles. The wide, shallow dial provides exceptionally easy reading of the indications. The applied stainless steel indices, the glossy grey dial (which is a very rare execution for this model and which, depending on the angle of the light, changes its color from metallic-grey to anthracite-black) and the embossed subdials further emphasize the elegance of the watch. The other main distinctive feature of this “For Bentley” series is the fact that the finishing of the case and bracelet is a combination of polished and brushed steel – this gives the watch a very elegant look and makes it less conspicuous.
The incredibly beautiful winged logo looks fantastic in its position at 12 o'clock, and the dial features three guilloché subdials with chromed steel rings (which is a reference to the series' automotive partner and represents an elegant nod to its dashboard). The certified chronometer contains an original “30-second chronograph” system, which ensures exceptionally accurate readings for short periods. The seconds subdial is located at 3 o'clock, and the date is at 4:30. The back of the watch is solid, screw-down, and engraved on it are the three iconic “coupes” of the series' automotive partner “Bentley” – the Speed Six, R-Type Continental, and Continental GT.
The watch comes as a full set with boxes and papers, without warranty. The bracelet fits a wrist up to 22.5 cm. The condition of the watch is excellent with minimal “hairlines” on the bracelet clasp. It runs perfectly (deviation of +2 seconds per day). Serviced in 2012. With it, I also offer the “knurled” bezel in excellent condition, which I have left from a previous For Bentley and with which, at the new owner's request, the watch can acquire a completely different look.
