We won't hide it – this is one of our favorite Breitling models. And today we have the opportunity to present to your attention the Yellow Cobra variant of the latest reincarnation of the sea wolf, in practically new condition.
Many diver's watches are sold online or have been sold in recent years, and we don't hide that we have an affinity for this class of watches. But you must agree, those that could measure up on the main characteristic for a diver's watch – water resistance – can be counted on one hand. 3000 m – a truly impressive achievement and certainly the fruit of serious engineering thought and many hours of intensive design work.
The result is perhaps due to the brand's heritage or the collaboration with the École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne, where numerous tests were conducted, but the fact remains. We will mention just some of its characteristics – the thickness of the crystal is 5 mm (otherwise it would be impossible to withstand the programmed pressure), the thickness of the case back is 4.75 mm, and the height of the watch is 18.5 mm. Quite thick, but without being excessive – you must agree that this is an achievement worthy of respect.
The detail, the finish, and the overall impression are at the usual high level for Breitling. And although this watch has no complications, it is one of the most sought-after and desired watches of its class in the world. The price/quality/functionality ratio is one of the best, and perhaps this is precisely the explanation.
It is truly very masculine – it lacks the glossiness of the Super Avenger or the for Bentley series, nor the recognizability of the Navitimer, but at the same time, it is very iconic and very cool. The watch has an eye-catching bright yellow dial with raised massive hour markers, which, along with the hands, are coated with a thick layer of Super-LumiNova and glow very brightly and for a long time.
The bezel, in our opinion, is one of the most masculine among those offered on the market. Frankly, we regret that Breitling decided to change its design a few years ago, and in most "instrumental" series, it is now quite different. The only consolation is that with the Avenger and Super Avenger, the change is not so drastic – it remains unidirectional, with 120 clear and distinct clicks and a diver's "pip" at 12 o'clock.
The crown is the other accent that we really like in this series – massive, knurled, with a large raised "B" of the brand, and the guards that envelop it on both sides just complete the overall impression.
