Seiko Marinemaster Mechanical Divers 1968 Heritage

The watch presented today is a worthy diver in the Seiko lineup – as many watch enthusiasts say, “every self-respecting collector should have owned at least one Marinemaster in their collection”. And they are probably right – because the watches from this series offer all the essential characteristics required for this category. They are robust, easy to use, durable, highly water-resistant and feature easily readable indications. The case comes in the contemporary size of 42.6 mm, made of high-quality steel with polished surfaces and a protective DiaShield coating. The design is inspired by Seiko's famous diver's watch from 1968, while incorporating numerous modern improvements. The hands are bevelled and polished along their edges, while the hour markers are enlarged and generously coated with Seiko's high-performance Lumibrite. And indeed, the luminescence is so bright that it can be noticed even in daylight. The watch offers 300 m water resistance, a unidirectional rotating bezel, a screw-down crown and a dual-curved sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating. All of this reinforces the impression of a genuine professional instrument, designed to withstand demanding conditions and deliver maximum functionality. As for the movement, the watch uses the Seiko Calibre 8L35 – a movement created and hand-assembled by the master watchmakers of the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in Morioka, Japan. Consisting of 192 components and 26 jewels, with a 50-hour power reserve and operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, this movement is actually based on the architecture of the legendary Grand Seiko Calibre 9S55. The main differences lie in the finishing and regulation standards, while the fundamental construction and high quality of craftsmanship remain characteristic of both movements.
