The new generation Oyster Perpetual 36 was introduced in 2020 and aims to offer a watch that, unlike some other representatives of the "Oyster" line, is neither distinctly sporty, like a Submariner, nor entirely a dress watch, like the Cellini line, but is rather "casual", as it allows you to wear it with jeans and a t-shirt as well as with a formal shirt and trousers. The other special feature is that it is here that Rolex launched the vibrant colors – with the idea being more than transparent, namely to attract the attention of a younger audience and thus expand the consumer base. The specific model is a kind of "return to the roots," especially regarding the size – 36 mm is a size that can be worn with equal success by both men and women.
Indeed, the detail of this timepiece, as with all modern Rolexes we have had the opportunity to examine, is impressive. Starting with the classic dial, which truly shows from a distance what brand of watch is on your wrist – this particular example has the very rare green dial color. As is well known, the color green is particularly important to Rolex and always makes watches of this color more sought-after and pursued. The markers and hands are "suspended" in the air in a kind of weightlessness, they are elegant and made of white gold, which is standard for the brand's modern models. The markers at "3", "6", and "9" are double, and all markers and hands are filled with a luminescent compound, which only reinforces the overall elegance of the model and enhances its overall presentation.
Passing through the classic sapphire crystal, we come to the case and bezel – an incredible combination of brushed highest-grade 904L steel, with faceted polished edges and details in places. As you know, Rolex pays special attention to the steel used and for this purpose has its own foundries for its production.
And of course the bracelet, the band, the chain, or whatever you may call it – as can be expected from a Rolex, it is truly good. In this case, it is a classic Oyster bracelet – with micro-adjustment, and its full size includes 5 links towards "6 o'clock" on the case, of which 2 are removable, and 7 links towards "12 o'clock", of which 4 are removable. The clasp is an Oysterclasp with a deeply engraved logo on it.
And of course, the new movement deserves special attention – here, caliber 3230 is used, which has an increased power reserve of up to approximately 70 hours, bidirectional automatic winding via a Perpetual rotor, Chronergy escapement, and Superlative Chronometer certification, guaranteeing an accuracy of -2/+2 seconds per day after the movement has been cased.
