The original Rolex Milgauss was created during the tumultuous 1950s – a time of geographical, scientific, and engineering discoveries. To keep pace with this human endeavor, Rolex created some of its most iconic models – the Submariner for explorers of the ocean depths, the Explorer for adventurers, and the Milgauss for engineers and scientists. The model features additional anti-magnetic protection and is among the few whose production was discontinued, only to be resumed nearly 20 years later – in 2007, in a completely updated and contemporary form. The model offered today is a very different interpretation of the Milgauss. Introduced for the first time in 2014, it brings a new term into the Rolex lexicon – Z Blue. With it, the brand not only introduces a new dial color but also boldly experiments with its combination with the green sapphire crystal (also used in a previous Milgauss variation). The end result is impressive and makes this model the most sought-after Milgauss, and consequently, one of the most expensive on the secondary market. The detailing on this timepiece is of an exceptionally high level. The dial highlights the orange elements – the indices on the outer ring and the characteristic lightning-bolt-shaped seconds hand. The sapphire crystal is of the highest grade and is tinted with the characteristic green hue, while also contributing to the case's lower profile compared to previous generations. The case and bezel deserve special attention – a combination of high-quality 904L steel with a brushed finish and polished facets. As is well known, Rolex pays special attention to the materials used and has its own foundries, which guarantees consistency in quality. Of course, the bracelet is also of an exceptional level. It features solid links and a robust clasp, milled from a single block of steel, not from bent sheet metal as with many other brands. This model uses the Easylink system, which allows for a quick micro-adjustment of approximately 5 mm. The bracelet size is 20 mm at the lugs, and the configuration includes 5 links toward the 6 o'clock side (2 removable) and 7 links toward the 12 o'clock side (4 removable). All of this makes the Milgauss Z Blue one of Rolex's most distinctive and recognizable models – a timepiece that combines scientific heritage, innovation, and a strong visual presence.
