The history of the Rado brand begins in 1917 in the small Swiss town of Lengnau, where the three Schlup brothers – Fritz, Ernst and Werner – began assembling watches in their own workshop under the name Schlup & Co. 40 years later, the company was already called Rado Uhren AG and in 1957 launched its first collection of watches under the name Rado, familiar to everyone to this day. First presented in 2022, the model is part of the brand’s new Captain Cook series. A steel case, a dial style that has recently become fashionable and is called “Ombre dial” by some brands, transitioning from grey in the centre to black at the edges, with contrasting applied hour markers and well-proportioned hands – all of this in a silver tone. The date is in the window at “6 o’clock”, while the only accents are the red tip of the seconds hand and the base of the “anchor”, positioned above the printed logo of the brand. A very clean and strict appearance – suitable both for a formal business suit and for a more sporty style of dress. In any case, however, this watch will not remain unnoticed on your wrist. At the heart of the watch beats the very reliable automatic Rado Caliber R801 movement, proven across many brands and models – the base is the well-known ETA 2894 with a Dubois Dépraz module, which now carries the ETA A31 designation. The movement has 37 jewels and 59 hours of power reserve, while the transparent caseback gives us the opportunity to observe the superb finishing of the movement and its operation.
