Undoubtedly, the Speedmaster is the model that has largely made Omega what the brand is over the last 50 years, and for this reason, it is this model that first comes to mind in the imagination of every watch enthusiast at the mention of the brand.
Of course, the credit for this goes to the series of so-called "moon Speedmasters," but there are several others that deservedly hold a place of honor on the lists of the model's admirers. The theme of Space, and especially the moon, is very valuable to Omega – because it is thanks to it that Omega is where it is now and has remained at the forefront of favorite brands for more than 60 years.
We can only say that the watch is truly very cool, and unfortunately, the photos cannot show all its magnificence. Introduced in 2015, it is a true thoroughbred Speedmaster for many reasons – we will focus on just a few of them:
First, of course, it is a chronograph – in order to be a true Speedmaster. The tachymetric scale – which in this case is Omega's so-called Liquidmetal, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the transparent case back...
Second is its irresistible and inimitable style, with the shape of the hands and the layout of the dial.
Third is the movement used – not for nothing is the 9300 considered by specialists to be one of Omega's best in-house movements of the last 10 years. It deserves special attention. Under the name Calibre 9300 lies Omega's high-quality in-house movement – an automatic chronograph, operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations (3.5 Hz), unusual for other movements, with two barrels, 54 jewels, and 337 components - with Omega's Co-Axial escapement and an Si14 silicon balance wheel – COSC certified and with a power reserve of over 60 hours. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the watch's movement and offers improved reliability and accuracy, as well as longevity of the movement's use. The column-wheel chronograph guarantees a smooth start of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and ensures precise stopping and resetting.
And of course, the most interesting thing about this watch is the material used for the case – here we are talking about black ceramic! For the first time, Omega used this material on a Speedmaster in 2015 in this very model, and they clearly liked the result, because to this day they continue to actively use ceramic, having now added other colors to their product range.
The strap is very comfortable due to the clasp with its easy-to-use pushers, made from high-quality nylon textile - clean and of very high quality, and the snugness with which it wraps around your wrist once again shows the high quality of the watch's craftsmanship.
