Description
Undoubtedly, it is the Speedmaster name that has largely made Omega what the brand is over the last 50 years, and for this reason, it is the one that comes to the mind of every watch enthusiast at the mention of Omega. Of course, the credit for this goes to the series of so-called "moon Speedmasters", but there are also several other models that deservedly hold an honored place on the lists of the series' admirers. The theme of Space, and especially the Moon, is extremely valuable to Omega – because it is thanks to it that the brand is where it is today, and has remained at the forefront of favorite watchmaking brands for more than 60 years.
We can boldly say that the timepiece is truly remarkable and unfortunately, the photos cannot show its full splendor. Introduced in 2014, it is a true thoroughbred Speedmaster for many reasons – we will focus on just a few of them.
First, of course, it is a chronograph – in order to be a true Speedmaster. The tachymetric scale, which in this case is made of Omega's so-called Liquidmetal, the shape of the chronograph pushers, the transparent case back – all these elements are part of the model's DNA.
Second, of course, its irresistible and inimitable style – the shape of the hands, the layout of the dial, and the overall architecture of the watch. The dial itself has a textured coating of noble platinum and it is precisely for this reason that the model's other name is Lunar Dust.
Third, the movement used – not for nothing is the 9300 considered by specialists to be one of Omega's best in-house movements in recent years. Special attention should be paid to it. Under the name Calibre 9300 lies Omega's high-quality in-house movement – an automatic chronograph, operating at a frequency of 25,200 vibrations (3.5 Hz), unusual for other movements, with two barrels, 54 jewels and 337 components. It features Omega's Co-Axial escapement and a Si14 silicon balance wheel, is COSC certified, and has a power reserve of over 60 hours. Co-Axial is a patented Omega technology that significantly reduces friction in the heart of the movement and offers improved reliability, precision, and longevity. The column-wheel chronograph ensures a smooth start of the seconds hand when the chronograph is activated and provides precise stopping and resetting.
And of course, the most interesting thing about this watch is the material used for the case – here we are talking about grey ceramic! Omega used this material for the first time in this very model.
The strap is very comfortable due to the clasp with its easy-to-use push-buttons. It is made of high-quality crocodile leather, again in a grey color – refined, of very high quality, and completely in tune with the overall concept of the watch. The snugness with which it envelops the wrist once again shows the high quality of the craftsmanship.
