Jaeger-LeCoultre or JLC is one of those brands that are extremely highly regarded by watch enthusiasts for its innovation and reliability. One of their most popular designs is the Reverso, which in its long history from 1930 to the present day, has enjoyed enduring interest and has become one of the icons of luxury watchmaking. An extremely interesting fact is that the Reverso was inspired by the Art Deco style and was originally created specifically for polo players.
Versatility and impact – these are the key words with which the Reverso Squadra Chronograph GMT can be described. Introduced for the first time in 2006 and tasked with worthily celebrating the 75th anniversary of the brand's Reverso series, this watch became one of the flagships of the brand's modern line of reversible watches and one of the most desired pieces for all fans of the famous manufacture.
In recent years, we have had the pleasure of experiencing the other two representatives of the series – the Squadra Chronograph Worldtime and the Squadra Hometime – and we can assure you that this one is in no way inferior to them, and for many people, it is the most interesting due to its many complications, its white dial, and of course, the fact that it is crafted from solid 18-karat rose gold!
From the very first glance, this watch attracts attention with its clear black numerals, contrasting against the silvery base. And therein lies the power of its impact – the hours and minutes are inscribed with absolute clarity on the beautiful dial.
The date, which is immediately noticeable, is the so-called “big date”; it is displayed in two separate windows and from two separate discs, depicted with white numerals that stand out well against a black background. It is positioned in the rectangular windows at “12 o’clock”. In perfect symmetry, again in a rectangular window, the GMT indicator for a second time zone is placed at the “6 o’clock” position. At the “9 o’clock” position, in a square subdial (to be in keeping with the overall design of the watch), is the chronograph's hour counter, and mirrored to it, at “3 o’clock”, is the 30-minute counter.
The perfect use of symmetrical shapes and contrasting colors makes it possible to get all the information at a glance.
Upon “flipping” the “head” of the watch in its case, the opportunity opens up to gaze upon the back of this work of art – hidden inside the reversible head is the brand's beautifully decorated in-house Calibre 754 – with two barrels, a 65-hour reserve, 296 parts, and 39 jewels, operating at 28,800 vibrations – with a large date, chronograph, and GMT, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a power reserve of 65 hours.
This robust, self-winding movement is a masterpiece, providing exceptional reliability, in the creation of which the most advanced technologies have been used, ensuring stability of operation and protection of the individual components. And the greatest impression is made by the sound the rotor makes when winding – such a pleasant “whirring” is not heard in many watches.
