Description
Franck Muller is perhaps the brand with the most diverse range of styles among all prestigious Swiss manufacturers. Known as the "Master of Complications," Franck Muller is among the greatest proponents and popularizers of the Cintrée Curvex case shape. Thanks to the exceptionally beautiful dials and cases, the brand's timepieces are extremely popular among collectors, and among famous personalities, some of its biggest admirers are Elton John, Demi Moore, and Robin Williams.
Undoubtedly, the most recognizable and characteristic feature of Franck Muller timepieces is their so-called "tonneau" case from the legendary Franck Muller Conquistador series.
The Conquistador line was created to pay homage to a dynamic, modern, and classic style. Conceived as part of the beautiful Cintrée Curvex line, the "Conquistador" restrainedly and authentically resurrects the elegance of the interwar period in the first half of the 20th century and skillfully combines it with modernism in its dimensions and shape. The oversized Arabic numerals, with a size that changes according to their position on the dial – which can easily be called a symbol of the brand – ensure excellent visibility and make the series completely original. Its multicolored dials artistically immortalize the combination of form and color.
The Franck Muller Conquistador Cortez 10000 H SC is a worthy representative of Franck Muller's line of luxury timepieces and carries a dynamic, modern, and at the same time, classic style.
The model was introduced in 2005 and was successfully produced until a few years ago, and even today the brand offers variants of it with a slightly updated design – mainly in the dial or with added functions and complications.
This timepiece undoubtedly belongs to the exclusive, highest-class segment. It features a stainless steel "tonneau" shaped case with dimensions of 41 mm in width excluding the crown and a mere 11 mm in thickness. The 41 mm size should not be misleading, as diagonally the case exceeds 58 mm – the watch is truly impressive. The classic black dial has large luminous Arabic numerals, luminescent hour and minute hands, as well as a central seconds hand made of polished steel with a red tip.
The movement is the automatic FM 2800 calibre – based on the ETA 2892-A2, but modified by Franck Muller. The main difference is the rotor, crafted from platinum 950. The movement operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, has a 42-hour power reserve, and 21 jewels. The crystal is a scratch-resistant sapphire, and the strap is the original black crocodile leather with a standard buckle. The water resistance is typical for dress watches – 30 meters.
The watch's box deserves separate attention – it would be more correct to call it a crate, as one rarely encounters a larger one. The outer part is blue, while the inner part is shaped like a chest, lined with brown leather and with a brown suede interior. Additionally, a brown leather folder for storing the certificate is provided.
This is emphatically a prime example of a dress watch for people seeking an attractive presence on their wrist. One thing is certain – this timepiece will not go unnoticed and will not only attract glances but also evoke approval (and why not envy) among connoisseurs of luxury watches.
