Chopard Mille Miglia GT XL Chronograph 44mm Limited Edition

The Chopard Mille Miglia watch series is designed in the spirit of racing, and this is evident in every element of this watch’s design. The trademark logo of the cult “1000 Miglia” race, which gave its name to this series, is proudly positioned on the dial of the watch, as well as engraved on its crown. The dial itself pays tribute to racing cars, which remain the main participants in this competition to this day, while the strap features a tread pattern inspired by a Dunlop car tyre. Gran Turismo, in turn, is the series that brings together the larger designs, and the watch presented today is in the largest of them – 44 mm, in a chronograph version launched in a limited series of only 2008 pieces. The model was created to celebrate the history of the Mille Miglia motor race, which took place between 1927 and 1957, taking competitors over 1000 miles through the Italian countryside – from Brescia to Rome and back. In 1977, Mille Miglia was revived as an event for classic cars produced before 1957. Since 1988, Chopard has sponsored the Mille Miglia race. The case of this watch comes in the contemporary size of 44 mm, which makes it extremely comfortable to wear. Its height is only 15 mm, the bezel is thin, bevelled and carries a tachymeter scale, while the dial is silver and features a design that pays tribute to the brand’s automotive heritage – the numerals and hands are similar to those used in racing car instruments. The Arabic numerals at the “6” and “12” hour markers, the hands with Super-LumiNova inserts and the solid caseback – all of this demonstrates the watch’s thoroughbred origin and makes it highly noticeable. The movement used by the manufacturer in this watch is the ubiquitous Valjoux – a robust and reliable movement proven across many brands and models, and easy to maintain.
