Breitling Superocean Chronograph 42mm Blue Dial

The Breitling Superocean Chronograph 42 is one of the less conventional representatives of this series – in terms of appearance and design, it resembles an Avenger Chrono more than a typical Superocean. We are sure that, for most fans of the brand, this is not the design one would expect from a typical Breitling, mainly because of the bezel, but it is undoubtedly a pure-blooded diver from the brand and, as such, it is yet to win over its admirers. With its 42 mm size, this watch is massive, but without being excessive or negatively affecting wearing comfort. The water resistance is an impressive 500 m, which allows it to accompany you on scuba adventures at significant depths. The characteristic feature of the model is the bezel, as we have already mentioned, which is classic for Breitling’s sports series but atypical for the Superocean. The dial of this particular piece is sea blue, while the hands, hour markers and the bezel “pip” are not only made of polished steel, but are also very well proportioned and generously coated with Super-LumiNova – which makes reading the indications easier both during the day and at night, under and above water. The sapphire has double anti-reflective coating and, from a certain angle, creates the impression that the dial could be touched without anything standing in the way. The crown, pushers and caseback are screw-down – which is necessary in order to ensure the water resistance planned by the manufacturer. The case is made of polished steel, further reinforcing the overall feeling of a professional instrument. The bracelet is massive, three-link, Breitling’s Professional II version – used in many of the brand’s models, measuring 22 mm at the lugs and 20 mm at the buckle. Overall, the Breitling Superocean Chronograph is a perfectly designed and well-balanced watch, carrying within it not only the traditions of the brand’s “underwater” watches, but also the new trends in the development of their designs.
