The watch brand Bell & Ross is known for producing watches that perform excellently in the air, on land and under water, and it partners with La Patrouille de France in the air and Alpine on land. Now it is venturing into the seas through a new partnership with the respected French foundation Tara Océan. To mark this collaboration, Bell & Ross presents the BR 03-92 Diver Tara – a special blue ceramic watch designed to withstand the challenges of marine research.
The Tara Océan initiative aims to explore the seas, deepen our understanding of the marine world, share scientific knowledge and raise public awareness. For two decades, the foundation has supported innovative ocean science, working with leading global research centres in order to study marine biodiversity in greater depth, examine the effects of climate change and pollution, and predict their impact.
In support of this worthy cause, Bell & Ross partners with the Tara Océan foundation and works with the crew of the schooner Tara. This 36-metre vessel with an aluminium hull, previously known as “Antarctica” and “Seamaster”, has witnessed a tragic chapter in its history. Once owned by the famous New Zealand yachtsman Peter Blake, it encountered adversity when Blake was shot and killed by pirates in 2001 while monitoring environmental changes in the Amazon River. Now, with a new owner, renamed and dedicated to ecological expeditions, Tara sails the world’s oceans, navigating dangerous conditions.
Presented in 2023 in a limited series of only 999 pieces, the model will certainly become a classic for several main reasons. First, because it carries the tradition of Bell & Ross, and this is an undisputed fact – the now iconic square case shape, clean lines, reliable movement and noble combination of only three colours – blue, white and orange – make this watch a true ambassador of the brand.
Second, this is a true diver’s watch – confirmed not only by its name, but also by the fact that it meets both the ISO standards for diver’s watches and ISO 764 for anti-magnetism. Third, the size – in our opinion, 42 mm is the most comfortable size for a diver’s watch – neither too large nor too small, and because of the shape and proportions of the case, the watch wears even more compactly than its size would suggest.
And last but not least – everything the brand has done to make this watch comfortable not only for its owner’s underwater adventures, but also for everyday use: a classic diver’s bezel, unidirectional, notched, with 60 precise clicks, a soft and comfortable rubber strap and an impressive water resistance of 300 m.
